My fabulous daughter sent me a link to Dust Echos, http://www.abc.net.au/dustechoes/, an art project from Australia and the images were very inspirational and made me think about the possibilites for creating a tableaux in wood that gave them another twist.. I particularly liked the idea of trying a wood carving that, when finished had an painted effect. This is something that I have wanted to try.. American Indian totems and other works have done this to get effect.
My design is a montage of a couple of the Dust Echos art works.. with a bit of alteration. I wanted to have a character foreground that really pushed out from the picture.
It is interesting translating the 2D art work to something 3D.. presents some challenges and I guess is where I will be adding a bit of my creativity.
